When Conrail was formed in 1976, the D&H was given a lot of resources (engines, freight cars, even route miles) by the Federal Government as part of the plan to create "parity" (which never really happened). As a result, many ex-Reading boxcars suddenly became the D&H's overnight. They were patch painted in a multitude of ways including full repaint in green, partial green paint only over the Reading markings, and various ugly combinations in between. The quicker, the cheaper, the better.
Modeling one has been on my list of things to do, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I plan to do a better job then what is shown in this October 1984 shot from my hometown of Rochester, NY.
